Window switch may overheat and cause fire

Fire risk

Grease may have been unevenly applied inside the power window master switch, leaving its electrical contacts unprotected. Moisture or debris can then short the switch, causing it to overheat, melt, and raise the risk of a fire.

Fix: The dealer will inspect the switch, add lubricant if it is fine, or replace the circuit board if a problem is found, and the repair is free of charge.

Power window switch can overheat and melt

Fire risk

The lubrication in some power window master switches was applied imprecisely, so the switch can malfunction and overheat. If it overheats, it may melt and could start a fire.

Fix: The dealer will inspect the switch, apply a special heat-inhibiting grease or replace the switch if it is damaged, free of charge.
