2014 Nissan Rogue recalls

Folding key can shut the engine off

Crash risk

The key can fold into itself while driving, and contact with it can switch the engine off. If that happens, the airbags may not deploy in a crash, raising the risk of injury.

Fix: The dealer will insert a spacer into the key slot to stop it from folding, free of charge.

Recall 23V093000 · Feb 2023

Interior / under dash

Fire risk

The electrical connector for the under dash harness may corrode due to water and salt intrusion from the driver's side foot well. Corrosion in the electrical connector can result in power window/seat failure, all-wheel-drive warning light illumination, battery drainage, and electrical connector damage that increases the risk of a fire.

Fix: Dealers will remove the harness tape and harness covering and replace both connectors and apply white lithium grease to the connectors as necessary, free of charge.

Recall 22V024000 · Jan 2022

Occupant classification

In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash. If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.

Fix: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors.

Recall 16V244000 · Apr 2016

Rear liftgate support stays may corrode and fail

Injury risk

Corrosion can weaken one or both rear liftgate support stays, which hold the tailgate up. The stays can suddenly lose pressure and break off, raising the risk of injury.

Fix: The dealer will replace the rear tailgate stays free of charge.

Recall 16V219000 · Apr 2016

Fuel pump

Can stall

Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing. If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable.

Recall 16V149000 · Mar 2016

Fuel pump may fail and stall engine

Can stall

Some components inside the fuel pump were not nickel plated properly, so the pump can fail. If it does, the vehicle may stall without warning, which raises the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel pump free of charge, and Nissan will notify owners by mail.

Recall 15V197000 · Apr 2015

Water and salt can short wiring, causing fire

Fire risk

Snow, water, and road salt can seep through the driver-side carpet and reach the wiring harness connector near the kick panel. This can cause an electrical short, which can start a vehicle fire.

Fix: A dealer will inspect the kick panel wiring harness connector and, if needed, install a new connector and waterproof seal at no charge.

Recall 15V032000 · Jan 2015

Brakes

During the assembly process, the front wheel hub assembly fasteners may not have been properly torqued. The under-torqued fasteners may result in a brake caliper separating from the wheel assembly causing a reduction in braking performance or reduced steering control. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and tighten any loose bolts to the proper specification, free of charge.

Recall 15V012000 · Jan 2015

Lugs / nuts / bolts / studs

The right side wheels of the affected vehicles may have one lug nut each that was not properly tightened. If the lug nut becomes loose from not being properly tightened, it may fall off, allowing the other lug nuts to become loose, possibly resulting in a wheel separation, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten any loose lug nuts to the correct specification, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by the end of June 2014.

Recall 14V229000 · May 2014

Wrong steering bolt can loosen and fail

Crash risk

A bolt that connects the steering intermediate shaft to the upper steering assembly may be the wrong part. The bolts can loosen and fall out, which can cause a loss of steering control and raise the risk of a crash.

Fix: Your dealer will inspect and repair the steering connection at no cost to you.
